Weight: 306. Difference from last entry: -1

Colin Anthony was born Tuesday night at 11:56pm. He weighed in at 7 pounds and 11 ounces (he’s gained a bit of weight since then) and is around 20″ long. He is incredibly cute; pictures can be found on my LiveJournal.

I am still doing well on the eDiets plan. I’ve started to vary meals a bit, keeping in mind estimated calories and portion sizes. I am starting to make better choices about foods, and am starting to recognize foods with hidden calories.

Those are the important things, because that’s my main goal from eDiets. I want to learn to be healthy, so I don’t have to lean on a weight management system. I want to be able to pick out good foods and eat reasonably and stay at a weight without having to feel like I am on a diet.

The side benefit of this is, of course, weight loss. I am down almost 20 pounds since the first week of September. My clothes fit a lot better, and some are actually too big! I don’t get as out of breath as I used to walking up the stairs. I’m still not fit, and I am still badly overweight. But I am losing.

I really, really need to keep an eye out on my attitude. I’ve had such good success losing weight so far that, when I hit a week with more realistic weight loss, I got upset! I was seriously bummed about only losing one pound this week. Only? 6 weeks ago, I would’ve loved to have seen a one-pound loss. Now, suddenly, it’s not good enough for me?

Thank goodness I didn’t gain anything! Who knows how I would’ve felt if that had happened!

On the plus side, I now know that I need to watch my attitude. Realistically, I am not going to lose 3-4 pounds a week. 1-2 pounds per week is what I should be expecting to lose. And I am sure there’ll be a plateau in their every now and then. I need to get my expectations set correctly, so I can celebrate a one-pound loss, and so I won’t get depressed if I don’t lose any weight or gain one or two pounds in a week.

Last week was a very good week for me. Along with losing a pound, I did a ton of exercise (5 days at 30 minutes exercise per day is a lot for me), and I chose my meals wisely. I am quickly learning how to eat good foods, and avoid the bad foods. That is one of my main goals.

Wow. WOW! Chalk up another three pounds for the Biffster! I am surprised at how easily the weight is coming off. I shouldn’t be; as I said in the last update, I firmly believe that my body was just looking for an opportunity to shed the extra weight I had forced upon it. At this rate, I am easily going to make my Thanksgiving goal (< 300lbs).

I actually slightly increased my calorie intake this week. I wasn’t sure what I was going to think about that. But the extra calories are apparently not going to have a detrimental effect on my weight loss. Plus, I plan on exercising more frequently, which should offset the extra calories. I have felt much less hungry since switching over to the 2500 calorie plan (from 2300 calories).

Speaking of exercise, I was able to get myself to the rec center both yesterday and today! Two days with exercise for the Biffster. :D I’ve gotta watch out, I might just be making a habit out of this.

My challenge continues to be the weekend. I’ll report in early in the week and let you know how my weekend went.

Oh, one other administration note: Be sure that you are using http://weightjournal.com to get to this journal. Starting this weekend, that will be the ONLY way to get to this weight journal. Using http://fierronet.org will no longer work. My weightjournal is getting expanded to its own hosting system!

Tokyo Joes

Hello again, everyone! I actually got myself out to the rec center this morning for a 30 minute, 1.7 mile walk (which is VERY good time and distance for me). I feel so much more relaxed and full of energy this morning. I really don’t understand why it is so hard for me to get out and exercise when I enjoy the after-effects so much!

Erin and I love to eat at Tokyo Joes (a local Japanese chain restaurant). I’ve found that Joes has a perfect dinner for me: It’s a brown rice bowl with chicken, lotsa veggies and curry sauce. According to their nutritional information, it’s 630 calories, which is right in my dinner range. If any of your readers are here in the Denver area and want healthy takeout/fast food, I strongly recommend Tokyo Joes!
