Back to work..

I am going to try to get a steady workout regime going this week. I know, I’ve said this many times before. Hopefully, this time I can stick to it. I got a half-hour on the treadmill this morning. My back was hurting something awful; I really wanted to hop in the hot tub for a while. Unfortunately, I was running too short on time. I finished on the treadmill at 7:30, and had to be to work at 8:00. Fortunately, the Y is 10 minutes from work (which is why I decided to join this Y), so I had time to shower and head out to the car. Didn’t have time to soak, though.

And I needed it. In case you didn’t hear, we had a blizzard here in Denver. I mention more about this on my personal blog and my LiveJournal. I mention it here because it led to my only bits of exercise last week. I spent about a half-hour or so on Tuesday and Wednesday shovelling snow, along with a good 15 minutes or so slogging through 30″ of snow to try to save our trees.

The biggest amount of activity by far was Thursday. I spent almost two hours trying to dig a path from our driveway to the street. Obviously, this was for our cars, so I had to make a fairly large path. This was a lot of physical activity, especially for someone like me, who leads a very sedantary lifestyle. It felt good, but I really strained my back. For the next few days, my lower back was incredibly sore. It still isn’t 100%, which is why I wanted to soak in the hot tub.

I am hoping I can get to the Y earlier tomorrow morning than this morning. If I can get there by 6:30, I have time to walk on the treadmill, soak in the hot tub, and take a nice, long shower. If I can get there by 6:00, I can even work some weights into my workout!

Hello again, everyone. ‘Tis me again. Two weeks in a row: who woulda thunk it? Maybe that is why it snowed so much this weekend…

Anyway, before I really get started, I just want to let you know about an alternate way to keep track of my Weight Journal. If you are using an RSS aggregation program or service, you can use my new RSS feed. I give permission to anyone and everyone who wants to add notification of journal updates to their programs or web sites to use this new feed. As for this week, things are going well. I have decided it is time to get back on track. And this time, I actually have some motivation behind me. I am planning to get back to a regular exercise schedule starting Wednesday. I haven’t decided if I am going to do mornings or evenings yet. I’d like to work out in the morning, but I am so bad at waking up early. I’ll probably end up doing evening workouts.

I am also going to start eating better. To get started, it’ll be easy to improve my diet. I just need to stop snacking! I have been having far too many goodies between meals. Those are going to go, and go quickly. I am going to make do with a lot of water and healthy snacks (carrots, hard-boiled eggs, cheese sticks) in place of the crap that I am eating now. Once I get the snacks taken care of, then I’ll tackle meals.

Life is often times a circle, dear readers. A person usually ends up going through the same things. I am, once again, at the start. it is time for me to start making my way around the circle. If I do it fast enough, I may just be able to break free!
